After Mahdia I saw El-Jem which was truly spectacular. The coliseum is ancient and enormous. Parts of it are in such incredible condition that you can climb up to the third level. I was awed walking around this site and my heart almost stopped in utter disbelief. I found it humorous that the coliseum is at least 100 times bigger than any other building in El-Jem and it was built around 1800 years ago. After all the advances humans have made in 1800 we still can't develop a city as prosperous as it was back then!
